Run for Rex raises money for the Rex Riessen Foundation, which helps local victims of ALS and their families cover the medical costs of the disease. ALS has a 100% fatality rate, and most victims survive only a few years after diagnosis. The average cost to treat ALS is $250,000 a year, which is why the money raised by Run for Rex goes to helping make the lives of local victims more comfortable.
The Kids Race is a fun way for young kids to participate in Run For Rex. Participants will run a short distance finishing in front a crowd of 5K participants and spectators. All Kidsí Race participants will receive a race bib number, shirt, goodie bag, and race medal.
Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group. Food and refreshments will be provided before and after the race.
The 5K course will start on the south side of the Johnson County Courthouse in Downtown Franklin and travels through the Masonic Home and Province Park before finishing back at the courthouse.
